Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), the principal agency of the Government of Kerala for industrial development and investment promotion in Kerala, has been taking significant steps in promoting biotech industry and entrepreneurship in the state. As part of its ongoing initiatives in this domain, KSIDC is organizing a "Bio-entrepreneurship Meet" at Hotel Mascot, Trivandrum on 6th September 2016. The Meet is conceived as a half day program; the inaugural session is scheduled to commence at 9.30am on the said date.
Hon. Minister for Industries, Government of Kerala will inaugurate the seminar, which will be presided over by Additional Chief Secretary (Industries), Government of Kerala. Detailed schedule of the program will be sent to you separately. The Meet will bring together leading professionals in the biotech sector, start-up companies, leaders from biotech institutions and academia.
Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) has handed over a cheque for Rs. 1.75 crores to the State Government as its profit share for the financial year 2014-15. Dr. M. Beena IAS, Managing Director of KSIDC handed over the cheque to Sri. E.P. Jayarajan, Minister for Industries, Kerala, in his chamber in the presence of Mr. P.H. Kurian, Principal Secretary, Industries.
Mr. E.P Jayarajan, Minister for Industries and Sports inaugurated an incubation centre established at the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences at Kochi in Ernakulam with the support of Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation.

VST Travels, a startup incubated at Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) startup zone at Angamaly, has received Rs 1.8 crore in funding from Dubai-based Promatus Group. The funding will help the company to develop and market its application, VehicleST, through which the user can book tickets in all modes of transport, including flights and bus and also hire taxis and auto-rickshaws, locate ambulances, recovery vehicles, bulldozers and cranes.
Promatas Group Chairman, Mr.Joshy Babu and VST Travels CEO Mr. Alwyn George signed the MoU at a function held in Thiruvananthapuram. Dr. M. Beena, Managing Director of KSIDC attended the function.
More than 1,500 women entrepreneurs from across Kerala participated in WE Summit 2015 - the first ever initiative for women entrepreneurs organized under the Women Entrepreneurship (WE) Mission programme by Kerala State Infrastructure Development Corporation (KSIDC). Inaugurated by Mr. Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister said the Women Entrepreneurs Collaborating and Networking (WECAN) initiative of KSIDC would give a new impetus to women entrepreneurs in the state.
During the occasion Government of Kerala announced the infrastructure support facility for women entrepreneurs at the garment manufacturing and export zone at Angamaly. The meet also ensure state government's support to protect the local industry by building the necessary basic infrastructure.

Fifteen IT and tech start-ups from KSIDC technology business incubator at Kakkanad received valuable suggestions and tips on various aspects of entrepreneurship from Simom Stockley, senior professor of Cambridge Judge Business School. The areas in which received advise are How to gaining traction, raise funds from venture or angel funds and sell off or scale up during their entrepreneurial journey. The interaction was part of KSIDC's year-and-half-long programme in tie-up with Cambridge Business School for mentoring young entrepreneurs as part of the YES (Young Entrepreneurs Summit).
The 15 promising start-ups participated in the day-long programme were: Tutty Frutty - an adventure game development venture; 3Q Mentors - an educational software development through a virtual platform; Seventy Six Degree Technologies - an IT Software product development outfit; Zybotech- a mobile application firm; Data Forbes - a machine automation firm; Data Factors – a social media platform for retailers; Blackwash Labs – a mobile application to find location via GPS o discount offered by various shops; Winwins- a mobile application firm; Finderz - an internship & HR Management company; SulfurSouth - a peer to peer mobile application firm; Infofac Consultancy - a IT product firm; Inno Feast IT Solutions - children's vaccination solutions firm; UST Travel Solution - a local transport bid mobile applications; Thopps Technologies - a mobile application firm and Comduds, a recently incubated firm.
These interaction progammes and entrepreneurial summits are Government's commitment in fostering entrepreneurship amongst students and youngsters.
The Kerala government plans to make technology entrepreneurship, a key part of engineering education in the state, announced Shri. Oommen Chandy after inaugurating YES CAN 2015, the second edition of Young Entrepreneurship Summit (YES) at Crowne Plaza, Kochi on 15th September. The theme of this year’s Young Entrepreneurship Summit is Collaborating and Networking.

Around 1,500 student entrepreneurs and startups participated in the Summit. The prizes of the Innovative Idea Contest, held in the run up to the Summit,were also distributed during the event. YES is Kerala’s flagship entrepreneurship event, organized by KSIDC.
Government of Kerala had decided to observe September 12 every year as Kerala Entrepreneurship Day, and to earmark one per cent of the State's annual budget for entrepreneurship development activities. YES is being planned as a flagship event to mark this year's Kerala Entrepreneurship Day. The event will showcase the existing facilities and support services available to prospective young entrepreneurs to help realise their business dreams.

To showcase the remarkable achievement of the State in promoting women entrepreneurship, the government through the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) is holding Women Entrepreneurs Summit (WE Summit 2015) on November 19, the United Nations' Women's Entrepreneurship Day.The announcement was made by Industries and IT Minister Shri P K Kunhalikutty at the Interface Programme of KSIDC in Thiruvanthapuram where over 600 women entrepreneurs from the district participated.The website of the WE Mission initiative (www.wemissionkerala.org) was launched by Principal Secretary (Industries and IT) P H Kurian. KSIDC MD Dr M Beena, Kudumbashree Executive Director K B Valsalakumari, KSIDC Executive Director B Jyothi Kumar were also present.
KSIDC handed over a cheque for Rs 1.75 crore to the state government as its profit share for the fiscal 2013-14. KSIDC Managing Director M Beena handed over the cheque to state Minister for Industries and IT P K Kunhalikutty at his chamber in the presence of Industries secretary Shri P H Kurian IAS.For the past eight years, KSIDC has been consistently paying out dividend to the state government.
In the financial year 2013-14, KSIDC sanctioned projects involving a capital investment of Rs 152.38 crore with direct term loan assistance of Rs 54 crore and share capital assistance of 18.37 crore. The new project is expected to generate employment for 1,000 persons directly or indirectly. The Corporation has also registered Rs 60 crore in disbursement and a record of Rs 101 crore in recovery for 2013-14. The income has come to Rs 53.48 crore during 2013-14 and the profit was 30.49 crore.
A Business Incubation Centre was inaugurated in TKM Institute of Management in association with KSIDC. Two day workshop on entrepreneurial development for young graduates was also conducted as part of this.
Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) distributed study kits for HIV infected and affected children in association with Kerala State AIDS Control Society as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility programme. This programme benefited for 600 childrens in Trivandrum, Kollam and Alappuzha Districts. The study kit distribution programme formarly inaugurated by Shri. T.K.A Nair on 06.08.2015 at Government Nursing School Hall, Thiruvananthapuram. He pointed out the significance of encouraging education among children and also demanded to extend the programme in other districts. The function was presided by Dr. M. Beena, Project Director, Kerala State AIDS Control Society Dr. T. V. Valayudhan, Sri. Suresh Kumar, Sri. L. Roopan, Smt. Anjana G etc attended the programme.
The official launch of the Mission was held on 8th May 2015 at Hotel Soorya Regency Malappuram. Shri.P.K Kunhalikutty, Hon'ble Minister for Industries & IT had launch the mission in the presence of Shri P. Ubaidulla, Hon’ble M.L.A, Malappuram. Dr. M. Beena IAS, MD KSIDC was present at the event. Further to the launch of the event, an interactive session with representatives from Industry bodies and Industry house was also undertaken, additionally there was an exposure visit to a successful industrial unit owned and operated by a women entrepreneur (Sumix Kidwear (P) Ltd, Malappuram).
To foster the growth of entrepreneurship in non IT sectors , KSIDC started to support and assist setting up of incubators/ Skill development centers and related ecosystem in colleges.
In this connection inaguration of Center for Skill and Entrepreneurship Development at MES College Erumely was done by Shri.T.K.A Nair, Chairman KSIDC on 29th April 2015 .Shri. B.Jayachandran , President Kanjirapally Block Panchayat presided the function.

'Make in Kerala' initiative of Government of Kerala will promote growth and development of micro, small, and medium industries in the State, announced by Shri. KM. Mani during the budget 2015. 'Make in Kerala' project will cover electronic systems and machinery, light engineering, rubber products, food processing, spices, handloom, textile, Ayurveda, promotion of Kerala brands, technological upgrade, conducting of entrepreneurs' meets, and promotion of women's entrepreneurial initiatives. A sum of Rs.15 crore has been set apart for the purpose.
An Investment Facilitation Cell has been constituted in KSIDC, Thiruvananthapuram office, in line with the Invest India - the country's official agency dedicated to investment promotion and facilitation - cell of DIPP, Govt. of India with the objective of guiding, assisting and hand holding investors during various phases of business life cycle.
The fourth edition of IBETO (Innovations for a better tomorrow) conducted as part of the national annual technology and managerial symposium Excel. Excel staff in charge Smt. Aparna Devi delivered the welcoming address followed by the presidential address which was given by the academic in-charge, Dr. Mini M G. The inaugural address was delivered by Shri. Kunhalikutty, Minister for Industries and IT has inaugurated the 5000 sq.ft technology business incubator centre at Infopark near Kakkanad, Kochi.

The Kerala government is stepping up its flagship 'Startup Bootcamp' programme hoping to reach nearly 20,000 college students across the state through Innovation and entrepreneurship Development Cells (IEDC) inside campuses. Shri. Oommen Chandy, Chief Minister of Kerala formally inaugurated the Startup Bootcamp initiative at Model Engineering College in Thrikkakkara, Ernakulam. Kerala's entrepreneurship building efforts are being further strengthened with the introduction of a new seed funding assistance scheme by Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC). It offers much-needed seed capital to student start-ups to help get them up on their feet. KSIDC's Investment Committee has identified four innovative proposals that will be initially accorded financial aid under the scheme. The bootcamps will lead entrepreneurship activities in the respective institutes and serve as launch pads for business ideas emerging out of colleges.
Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) has signed a Letter of Understanding with the Cambridge Judge Business School, London to provide mentoring and advisory services to industries in the state. The LoU signed by KSIDC with the School is expected to help the state develop a vibrant medium enterprise ecosystem that fosters entrepreneurship. The state government is taking proactive steps to build a medium enterprise ecosystem in the state. Lack of capable mentors, is often cited as a main problem that medium enterprise in the state, face. KSIDC, which has started a business incubator to encourage young entrepreneurs, especially women, plans to bridge this gap in the medium enterprise ecosystem through this partnership.
